About rhinoplasty
What is rhinoplasty (nose surgery)?
Rhinoplasty, often called a nose job, is surgery that reshapes or rebuilds the nose. By changing bone, cartilage and skin, it can improve how the nose looks and how it works. What is rhinoplasty?
Why do people choose rhinoplasty?
For appearance, such as the shape, size or symmetry of the nose, and for function, such as correcting a deviated septum, improving breathing or repairing a nose after injury. Many people have both reasons. Benefits of rhinoplasty
What are the types of rhinoplasty?
Open rhinoplasty uses a small incision across the columella, the strip between the nostrils. Closed rhinoplasty keeps every incision inside the nostrils. Revision rhinoplasty corrects an earlier operation, and septorhinoplasty straightens the septum for breathing while refining the shape. All types of rhinoplasty
Who is a good candidate for rhinoplasty?
Someone in good health, with a nose that has finished growing, a clear concern about appearance or breathing, and realistic expectations. Your surgeon assesses your anatomy, health and goals before recommending surgery.
What is the right age for rhinoplasty?
For cosmetic changes we wait until the nose has finished growing: usually around 15 to 16 for girls and 17 to 18 for boys. Breathing problems or injuries can be treated earlier when medically needed. Rhinoplasty in youth
Breathing and function
Does rhinoplasty improve breathing?
It can. Structural problems such as a deviated septum, collapsing nasal valves or enlarged turbinates can be corrected, which often improves airflow. Functional rhinoplasty
Can cosmetic and breathing problems be fixed in one operation?
Yes. A septorhinoplasty corrects the septum and refines the shape in the same operation, with one anaesthetic and one recovery. Septorhinoplasty
Will making my nose smaller affect my breathing?
It should not when the airway is protected. ENT-led planning supports the internal nasal valve with spreader grafts or sutures whenever the nose is narrowed or a hump is removed.
The operation and scars
Will I have visible scars after rhinoplasty?
After closed rhinoplasty there is no visible scar, because all the incisions are inside the nostrils. After open rhinoplasty there is a small scar across the columella, which usually fades to a faint line within a few months. Open or closed rhinoplasty
How long does the operation take?
Usually 1.5 to 4 hours, depending on what is needed. Tip-only surgery is shorter; grafting, injury repair and revisions take longer.
What anaesthesia is used, and will I stay in hospital?
Rhinoplasty is usually done under general anaesthesia. Many patients go home the same evening, and some stay one night.
Is rhinoplasty painful?
Most patients describe pressure and a blocked feeling, like a heavy cold, for the first two to three days rather than sharp pain. It is controlled with medicines, and painful nasal packing is generally avoided.
Will you use my own cartilage?
Whenever grafts are needed, we use your own cartilage from the septum, ear or, for larger rebuilding, the rib, and avoid silicone implants. Augmentation and grafts
Recovery
How long is recovery after rhinoplasty?
The splint is removed at about day 7, and most people return to desk work or college in 7 to 10 days. Visible swelling improves over the first month; subtle swelling settles over 6 to 12 months, or up to 18 months with thick skin. The operation and recovery
When can I exercise and wear glasses?
Light exercise can usually resume after about 4 weeks and strenuous exercise after 4 to 6 weeks. Avoid contact sports for at least 6 weeks, and keep glasses off the bridge of the nose for 4 to 6 weeks.
When will I see my final result?
You will see an improvement when the splint comes off, but the final shape develops gradually over 6 to 12 months as the swelling settles, and longer with thick skin.
Cost and insurance
How much does rhinoplasty cost in Hyderabad?
There is no fixed package price. The cost depends on whether it is a first operation or a revision, the technique, any breathing correction and whether grafts are needed. You receive an itemised quote after your consultation. Rhinoplasty cost
Is rhinoplasty covered by insurance?
Purely cosmetic surgery is not usually covered. The functional part, such as correcting a documented deviated septum, valve collapse or injury, may be eligible for insurance or TPA cover; approval depends on your insurer, and our team helps with the paperwork.
Are EMI options available?
Yes, interest-free EMI options are available through our financing partners.
Choosing your surgeon
Why choose an ENT surgeon for rhinoplasty?
The nose is a breathing organ as well as a facial feature. ENT surgeons are trained in the airway inside the nose, so changes to its shape are planned to protect, and where needed improve, your breathing.
What happens at the first consultation?
Your concerns and medical history are discussed, your face and nose are examined and photographed, and the inside of your nose is checked with an endoscope. You then receive an honest opinion on what can be achieved and an itemised quote.
Can a previous rhinoplasty be corrected?
Yes. Revision rhinoplasty corrects shape or breathing problems after earlier surgery, usually at least 12 months after the first operation, often using ear or rib cartilage. Revision rhinoplasty
