A small incision across the columella
A small, stepped incision at the narrowest part of the columella lets the surgeon see the framework directly. Suits tip shaping, grafting and revisions.

Frequently asked questions
Can cosmetic rhinoplasty fix breathing problems too?
Often, yes. If a twisted nose, collapsed bridge or crooked septum is part of the problem, correcting it can also open the airway. Cartilage taken from the septum can then be used to support the outside of the nose.
Will my nose look artificial?
The aim is a nose that looks natural and suits your face. Grafts made from your own cartilage are shaped by hand to match your proportions and heritage, with smooth, tapered edges so they do not show.
Is recovery painful?
Most patients describe pressure and a blocked feeling, like a heavy cold, rather than sharp pain. It is controlled with medicines prescribed after surgery.
How visible is the scar after open rhinoplasty?
The small incision across the columella is closed with fine stitches. It usually fades over 3 to 6 months into a faint line at the base of the nose that is hard to see.
When can I blow my nose or wear glasses?
Avoid blowing your nose for 2 to 3 weeks. Avoid resting glasses on the bridge for 4 to 6 weeks; our team will show you how to tape the frame to your forehead in the meantime.
